- Tell us something about yourself.
My name is Sahil Kumar Nagpal and I am a life coach, researcher and corporate trainer. I am trained in Traditional Hatha Vidiya, Indian Martial Art called Sanatan Shastar Vidiya and having thorough knowledge of modern psychology & physiology I research in various para sciences like tantra, vedanta, sankhya, etc that holds the secrets of true human potential. I do personal life coaching session for people who come from diverse backgrounds and also train in corporate like Reliance, Aditya Birla, Shell, G.A.C.L., Power Grid, etc.
- What compelled you to write this book?
I have been teaching, training and coaching people from different walks of life for past decade. What I teach them is that how the quality of life we are living is determined by a lot of factors but the most determining factors are the actions we take in different situations, the mindset we keep, how we keep our emotions settled, how we channel our energy and how we keep our body. I train them in taking control of their life just by understanding the functions of life and by taking charge of certain aspects of life. Most of the sessions are in person but during the lockdown I felt the need of creating an alternative of personal coaching. And so I decided to pore all my knowledge and experience into this book in a way that even a layman can read, understand and implement in his life and thereby take charge of his/her life.
- From how long have you been writing this book? What challenges did you face while writing?
As I said the content of the book is something that I was already teaching and I have been researching in the field of psychology, tantra, hatha, vedanta, physiology, etc from past 10 years, so it didn’t took me that long to write the book as the content was ready. It took me around 7 months to write the book. There were not any challenges as such, but yes I had to do a lot of research to find out case studies of some famous people who had implemented the aspects I have mentioned in book and got success in various sectors of life. Also I have to go through a lot of scientific journals & documentaries to find certain facts with proofs. But overall writing the book was mostly fun.
- What is the most memorable moment for you throughout the journey of the book?
As I was having a lot of author friends, I was already aware that this being my first book, I may not find any traditional publisher. But it is a big thing for me that there were three traditional publishers who took interest in the book and with one of them I moved forward but for certain reasons I finalized with self publishing house 24by7 Publishers. But this gave a boost to my confidence as people were willing to invest in my book. It is not a common thing that a first time author gets a traditional publisher. Also I really enjoyed writing the book every night under the waning moons. Those moments were invaluable as you feel like you are just a medium of writing; the actual knowledge comes from a supreme source. I still enjoy writing under the moon.
- Is writing your hobby or passion?
None actually, it was something that I was doing from a very long time. As I recalled while writing the book, I used to actually do content writing in the IT company I run back in the day by name SKN Organization. But as I think now I used to write in a diary from a very early age of may be 15 or 16. I used to write my everyday experiences & learning, something I heard from someone or read somewhere, anything that I like or anything that inspired me, I used to jot it down. Then it was something that I picked it up, but now it has become a requirement as I do research work I need to document various facts & figures. When you jot down fact and do a commentary on the conclusion and learning, it is quiet the same feeling as writing a book as you feel like some supreme knowledge is being revealed but there is a difference in writing a book and writing a commentary and that is the grooming and touch up work that you have to do after finishing the basic structure of the book. It feels good when things add up at the end.
- Are you planning to write again?
Of course yes, as this is the part 1, part 2 will be following this part. Matter of fact is that the writing process has already begun. So in this part I have explained how to understand the tools, gadgets or instruments used in creating our life that is our body, mind & energies, and how to keep these sharp & effective. In part 2 I will be going in great detail of how to use them to get whatever it is that we want. In part 2 I am also covering different illusions that we create in our life and how these illusions are the biggest factors of failure in our life. How to rectify these illusions and how to create the life we have always dreamt of effortlessly with precision. This is the general notion that in order to get something big we need to make more efforts but in most cases the fact is that we need to drop unnecessary efforts and prioritize our actions. All such facts will be covered in great detail in part 2.
- Do you believe that when author dies a reader is born?
This is how it is, SHROTA is superior to VAKTA. That means LISTENER is superior to SPEAKER. Same goes for writing. A READER is superior to a WRITER, because readers decide the fate of the writing/book. Doesn’t matter how good the book is, how real & useful the content of the book is, as long as the reader is not smart enough to understand, the book will be always be considered as ‘just another book’. Only when the book finds its appropriate reader then only the book will be considered as what it is, until then the book will always be considered as a PASTI. So yes the author must die in order to give birth to a reader in order to make a book worth for the readers. However for me it is all about sharing the knowledge that I gained from various sources that changed my life dramatically, that changed all of my student’s life drastically, in a format that any seeker can understand.
- For you, what is literary success?
When you have coded all your knowledge into a book in a form of poems, experiences, learning or story, whatever the format is but when the BHAVARTH (emotions with knowledge) flow down through you into your pen or keypad and into the paper or laptop, and when it is groomed & packaged in a right way so that it can go to its appropriate reader, then I think it is a success. However this is the success of the book which might sound good in philosophical terms but if your skill as a writing is actually good and the content you have prepared is actually useful to the society than it becomes your DHARMA (moral duty) as an Author to bring it into attention of as many people as you can. That can only be done by mastering the art of sale & branding which is something that everyone needs.
- Do you have any piece of advice for the budding authors out there?
I have already given a hint of the advice in the previous question. Many people have this subconscious notion that for becoming a bestselling author you need to write a good book. Not exactly, yes the book should be the need of the market but writing the book is only a small part of journey, it is very important to actually sell the book to as many as you can. It is important that your book reaches to its reader and for that proper branding of the book in important. So give special emphasis on direct sales & building a brand for long term.
- What it’s like to be with 24by7 Publishing?
Well actually it is because of 24by7 Publishing that I decided to let go the traditional publishing offer and self-publish my book. These times are changing times in book industry as now people are shifting from traditional to self. Very soon there will be a big self-publishing market that will overtake traditional publishing market. I am glad that I chose 24by7 Publishing. Their services were very satisfying. For many self-publishing companies author and their books is just another target to hit. But in my experience with 24By7 Publishing, I saw that they had a feeling of belongingness to my book. They used to reply quickly for many queries. Also I observed that many times their team would slightly push their efforts in order to meet my demands, which was overwhelming in a good way. Once I noticed that while proof reading they actually corrected a mistake that wasn’t a grammar mistake but the mistake was in the content and the proof reader observed it and addressed it. This shows that they just don’t use proof reading software or read in a hurry just to do the job but they actually read the entire book with utmost attention. This was something really commendable. My overall experience was great.
